University of Wisconsin expert: Barn collapses blamed on lack of engineering

As reported in the Dairy Star news on 1/17/2011, Snowstorms hit, barns collapse. “We knew there was snow build up. All the sheds had it, too, and we had been watching it,” Sjostrom said. “It was supposed to be warmer towards the end of the week and they were predicting more snow. We were thinking of pulling snow off it that Wednesday or Thursday, but that turned out to be too late.”
